This photograph was probably taken in September 1861 on the occasion of the mustering of the 8th Regiment, Company "C," from Camp Randall in Madison. Old Abe was about 11 months old when this picture was taken. The photo is an original cartes-de-visite taken by Fuller Temple of Art on the Madison Capitol Square.
